5. Does Optimum Online sell modems?

No, Optimum Online will provide a modem at no charge however it must be returned when you discontinue service.

6. Can I choose my own username and email address?

You will be instructed on how to create your username, email address and password during the installation process.

7. How much web space does Optimum Online include?

8. Does Optimum Online charge for technical support?

Free Technical support is available 24 hours a day.

9. Can I network more than one computer?

Yes, customers are free to network multiple computers with the use of a router however Optimum Online will not install or support the network. Optimum Online may not be connected to a server of any kind.

10. Can I get a static IP address with Optimum Online?

11. Will Vonage or any other Voice Over IP Service (VoIP) work with Optimum Online?

Yes, Vonage (or any other VoIP provider) will work with Optimum Online. For more detailed information contact your VoIP provider for technical assistance.

12. Once I get Optimum Online, do I still need an ISP (Internet Service Provider)?

No. Optimum Online is a full service Internet Service Provider.

13. What happens if I move?

Please check http://optimum.highspeed.com/ for Optimum Online availability for your new location. If Optimum Online is not available you may cancel your previous service without penalty.

14. What is a NIC card?

A NIC ( or "NICK") card is a network interface, or is also known as an "Ethernet Adpater" that is on the back panel of the computer and connects to the cable modem. Most computers sold in the last 5 years have them pre-installed.

15. What does a cable modem do?

A cable modem is a device that is needed for your computer to communicate at high speeds with the Internet.

16. Can I keep my current (Yahoo, Hotmail, Google etc. email address?

Yes, ordering Optimum Online will not affect your web mail email account.

17. Can I use a Macintosh computer with Optimum Online?

Yes, Optimum Online supports Macintosh computers with the following minimum requirements.

• Power PC 601 or later, iMAC
• 32 MB of memory (64 MB recommended)
• 150 MB of hard disk space (350 MB recommended)
• OS 7.6.1 or later
• CD-ROM Drive
• Network Card

18. Do I need to have your cable television service in order to use Optimum Online?

No, Optimum Online Internet service is available independently.

19. Can I use my own modem?

Optimum Online will provide a modem free of charge which must be returned once service is discontinued.

20. Is Optimum Online compatible with Sony PlayStation?

Yes. Optimum Online can be connected directly to a Sony PlayStation unit. Optimum Online will support the cable connection as if it were connected to a computer. Optimum Online will not support any issues related specifically to the Sony PlayStation unit.
